Tech Goes Home Program Brings Digital Literacy to Our Community

Signal Mountain Social Services is proud to partner with Tech Goes Home to bring essential digital literacy skills directly into the hands of those who need them most. Access to technology and the knowledge are vital for staying connected, pursuing education, finding employment, and navigating everyday life.

This fall, 10 community members joined the program and committed to 15 hours of instruction. Participants are gaining hands-on experience with tools such as Chromebook Basics, Internet Essentials and Online Safety, Gmail and Google Drive, Google Docs and Resumes, Google Calendar and Meeting Tools, Google Sheets, Job Search and Google Slides. These lessons build confidence while opening new doors for personal and professional growth.

To ensure lasting impact, each participant will keep the Chromebook they learn on, giving them continued access to the digital world well beyond the classroom.

A huge thank you to Lone Oak Community Center for welcoming us into their space and to Jami Wolbers, who generously volunteered her time to teach the course and to Mark Kirkpatrick for his technical skills in setting up the space. This program would not be possible without their support.

The Tech Goes Home program is more than just a class, it is an investment in people! By bridging the digital divide, we are empowering community members to strengthen connections with family, pursue job opportunities, and thrive in a technology-driven world.
